Alcohol, tobacco… Shock campaigns for pregnant women
During pregnancy, there are two prohibitions that should not be compromised: tobacco and alcohol. Cigarettes are in fact toxic for pregnant women and the fetus: they increase, among other things, the risk of miscarriage, growth retardation, premature delivery and, after birth, sudden infant death. However, France is the country in Europe where expectant mothers smoke the most, 24% of them say they smoke daily and 3% occasionally. Note that the e-cigarette is not without danger either. Like cigarettes, alcoholic drinks should be avoided when expecting a baby. Alcohol crosses the placenta and affects the nervous system of the fetus. Consumed in large quantities, it can be responsible for Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS), a serious disorder that affects 1% of births. For all these reasons, it is necessary to sensitize pregnant women today, but also tomorrow, on the risks of tobacco and alcohol. In picture, here are the prevention campaigns that have caught our attention around the world.
