Among the many weight loss programs, there are many unusual, but very effective. One of them is the lemon diet – a nutritional system that allows you to lose up to two kilograms per week.

Lemon diet for weight loss

Despite the widespread belief that lemon is not the most suitable fruit to fight obesity, this is not at all the case. It has a number of beneficial properties, thanks to which it can be used as part of weight loss diets.

When consumed in moderation, lemon has the following effects:

  • promotes the breakdown of fats
  • improves the production of gastric juice and, as a result, digestion

  • regulates metabolism
  • cleans blood and lymph from toxins
  • tones the body

In addition, lemon contains a large amount of vitamin C, which is necessary for the stable functioning of the immune, hematopoietic and cardiovascular systems. As a result, the lemon diet is not as bad for your health as some other weight loss programs.

The traditional lemon diet lasts for two weeks. During this period, no serious dietary restrictions are imposed; only the consumption of starchy foods and sweets needs to be minimized.

In most cases, the lemon diet does not have any negative consequences for the body, however, before starting it, it is advisable to consult a doctor and make sure that there are no contraindications

On the first day of the diet, you need to drink a glass of water, to which the juice of one lemon is added. On the second day – two glasses of water with juice from two lemons. In the third, respectively, three glasses of water with the juice of three lemons diluted in them. Thus, it is necessary to increase the dosage of water and lemon until the sixth day of the diet. The first glass of the drink should be drunk in the morning on an empty stomach. The remaining portions should be evenly distributed throughout the day and consumed 15-20 minutes before meals.

The seventh day of the diet is unloading. On this day, it is advisable to limit yourself to a light breakfast and dinner (vegetables, fruits, steam omelet and other dietary meals), and replace other meals with the use of a honey-lemon drink. To prepare it, you need 3 lemons, a tablespoon of honey and 3 liters of water.

On the eighth day of the diet, you must repeat the sixth (6 glasses of water and 6 lemons). In the ninth – the fifth (5 glasses of water and 5 lemons). Thus, by the 13th day, you need to reduce the amount of lemons and water to one piece per glass. The final, 14th day of the diet, duplicates the seventh.

With the lemon diet, you can lose 4-5 kg ​​of weight. The advantage of this power system is that the lost kilograms in most cases are not returned.

The traditional lemon diet can be slightly modified by using not diluted lemon juice, but a pleasant tasting honey-lemon drink – hydromel. To prepare it, you need a glass of warm water (temperature not higher than 40 ° C), the juice of one lemon and a teaspoon of honey.

Hydromel should be consumed three times a day, 30-40 minutes before meals. The minimum daily amount of drink is three glasses a day. You can also drink it to quench your thirst between meals. Hydromel can be added to tea, mixed with chamomile tea or your favorite sugar-free fruit juice.

The acid contained in hydromel helps to speed up digestion and improve metabolism

Thanks to this, food eaten after drinking a honey-lemon drink is quickly digested and does not have time to be deposited in the form of adipose tissue.

You can lose weight with the help of a hydromel without harm to the body within two weeks. After that, you should take a break for at least 5-7 days. No more than 12 weight loss courses can be carried out per year with the help of a honey-lemon drink.

Contraindications and precautions for following the lemon diet

Nutritional systems based on the consumption of lemon juice are generally well tolerated by the body. They not only contribute to weight loss, but also improve the complexion, help to recover faster from colds and other infectious and inflammatory diseases, tone the body, which is especially important in the autumn-winter period and during depression.

And yet, like any other diet, lemon has a number of contraindications and restrictions.

It is not recommended for adolescents, the elderly, pregnant and lactating women.

It is also prohibited in the presence of the following diseases:

  • gastritis or gastroduodenitis with increased acidity of gastric juice
