Erin Langmeid is one hundred percent consistent with the stereotype of how a model should look: perfect skin, full lips, big eyes, flat stomach, slender legs. Of course, not a single extra kilogram or centimeter, just the embodiment of grace. And suddenly, like a bolt from the blue – one fine morning Erin became a mother.
Erin has been dating her boyfriend Dan Carty for a long time. They even lived together, but they did not plan children. The girl was sure that she was one hundred percent insured against an unplanned pregnancy, because she was given contraceptive injections. And then one morning, going to the bathroom, Erin gave birth. Very quickly, literally in ten minutes, and right on the floor.
“I heard a loud scream, got scared, ran into the bathroom, and saw … them,” says Dan. “When I realized that Erin was holding a small child, I was just stunned.”
The guy called an ambulance. The newborn girl was not breathing and was already beginning to turn blue. Fortunately, the doctors arrived quickly, and until then the duty officer dictated to the young parents what to do. The baby was saved.
As it turned out, the girl, who was named Isla, was born in the 37th week of pregnancy. And all this time, Erin had no idea that she was expecting a baby. She wore her usual clothes, worked, took part in shows, went to the gym and to parties, indulging in a cocktail or two. And it would be okay if the girl was overweight, because of which you might not notice the pregnancy. Did not have!
“I didn’t have a stomach, I didn’t feel any ailments. I was not drawn to salty or something like that. I felt unwell only once – and immediately gave birth, “- said Erin .
But the baby turned out to be quite large – 3600 grams.
The couple’s life changed instantly. Of course, they were not ready for the appearance in the orphanage of the child – why would they. Friends and family helped them collect everything they need for the baby, and now Erin and Dan are busy mastering a new role – parenting.
“We did not plan this, but this is our life, and we would not want to change anything,” the young mother smiles.
